Submariner “Meters First”

A 1968 Rolex Submariner reference 5513 with a matte “Meters First” dial, warm tritium patina, acrylic crystal, and the clean no-date layout that defines the archetypal vintage Submariner.

The archetypal vintage Submariner

Meters first.
Pure tool-watch character.

Reference 5513 is among the longest-running and most recognizable Submariners. This early matte-dial example carries the collectible “Meters First” depth signature, with its 200-meter rating appearing before 660 feet, and warm tritium hour markers that have developed attractive vintage patina.

The 40 mm stainless-steel case retains the purposeful crown-guard profile, rotating dive bezel, and acrylic crystal associated with the reference. It is fitted to a black nylon pass-through strap and accompanied by the Bulang & Sons dealer presentation box and 2026 purchase documentation shown. No original Rolex box, papers, or bracelet are represented.
